Frequently asked questions

How is pricing calculated?

pricing is based on,

  • The number of organisations
  • The level of data required (reports only vs transactions & payroll)

Optional non-Xero data connectors are priced separately where required. There are no large pricing bands or step jumps

Do you charge per user?

No.
All plans include unlimited users, reports, and reporting tools. There are no per-seat, per-report, or per-dashboard limits.

Are eliminations and journals included?

Yes.
Intercompany eliminations and consolidation journals are core features, with support for account and GL code mapping across organisations to ensure accurate and consistent consolidation.

Can we use Excel and Power BI?

Yes.
All consolidated data is available in a reporting-ready SQL database.
Power BI can connect using import or directQuery mode, depending on your reporting needs.

Excel can connect directly via Power Query or the Data tab to automate custom reports and workflows.

dataSights also provides an Excel Office Add-in to download management reports and post data back across multiple Xero organisations.

This allows finance teams to automate recurring reports and workflows while BI teams build custom dashboards from the same consolidated dataset.

Can we include non-financial data?

Yes.
dataSights can integrate non-financial data such as headcount, usage, pipeline, project, or operational metrics alongside financial data. We support over 180 connectors, and where a system provides an API, we can automate its data into the same reporting environment. This allows finance teams to build richer reports and link results back to underlying business drivers.

How does this compare to Joiin?

dataSights is a finance-focused data warehouse and consolidation platform. It handles group mapping, eliminations, and journals, and delivers the results into:

  • Customisable management reports in the dataSights web platform
  • Excel via our Office Add-in and Power Query
  • Power BI and other BI tools.

Unlike template-driven tools, you get full access to the underlying data, making it easy to combine financial and non-financial data and build reports & workflows that match how your finance team actually works.
Pricing scales linearly per organisation, without rigid report templates or large pricing bands

How does this compare to Fathom?

Fathom focuses on management reporting and visualisation.
dataSights focuses on group consolidation, eliminations, journals, and finance team automation.
We provide a dedicated, reporting-ready data warehouse that feeds:

  • Customisable management reports in the dataSights platform
  • Excel automation (Office Add-in & Power Query)
  • Power BI and BI tools for finance and BI teams

This approach gives finance teams full control to build custom financial and operational reports and workflow, rather than being limited to predefined report structures.

Does this include real-time syncing?

dataSights supports both manual refreshes and scheduled updates, depending on how the data is used. Finance teams typically refresh consolidated data manually after posting journals or transactions, including when using the Excel Add-in across multiple organisations. This gives full control over when reports are updated.
For dashboards and BI reporting, data can also be refreshed on a scheduled basis
